I am a fully qualified counsellor with over ten years of experience in the field. As an integrative counsellor, I draw on the approaches that best suit the issues that clients bring into the therapy and work on a short or long term basis, depending on the clients’ needs, working towards goals that are important to the client.I aim to provide an empathic, supportive space where clients can open up and feel seen and heard for who they truly are. While counselling helps clients to process difficult or painful thoughts and feelings, I believe that counselling can also focus on the potential of my clients. I work with my clients to identify and draw on their inner resources to live a fuller, more satisfying life. Working integratively, I use Person centred and CBT identify patterns in their thoughts and behaviours, Psychodynamics to help clients to identify and address the root cause of their problems, Transactional Analysis to help clients manage their relationships in a healthier way, and mindfulness to help tame anxious responses. My approach is tailored to the individual client.I have an extensive background in the psychology field, and I am skilled at working with experiences of low mood, depression and anxiety, stress, self-harm, trauma, alcohol and drug misuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, abuse, agoraphobia, bereavement and loss , OCD, panic attacks, adjustment to difficult life events or illness and many other issues. I understand the internal and external pressures people can put on themselves, which can lead to unhelpful or damaging coping strategies. I work with my clients to identify healthier ways of managing emotions and stress. I also specialise in depression and anxiety, anger, relationships, couples counselling and have a special interest in eating disorders.
